Viloria stops Segura in round eight

In a war, WBO flyweight champion Brian “Hawaiian Punch” Viloria (30-3, 17 KOs) scored an exciting eighth round TKO over former unified light flyweight champion Giovanni Segura (28-2-1, 24 KOs) on Sunday (Saturday night in the U.S.) at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City, Philippines. Great two-way action from the get-go, with Viloria getting the better of the former 108lb star. The right side of Segura’s head was grotesquely swollen after three rounds. Viloria seemed to be fading in the middle rounds as Segura came on. Viloria staggered Segura in the eighth and bout was stopped by the referee. Time was :29.

In an important IBF super featherweight elimination bout, IBF #5 Martin Honorio (33-6-1, 16 KOs) scored a twelve round split decision over IBF #4 Fahsai Sakkreerin (36-4, 20 KOs). Sakkreerin was the aggressor in the bout but Honorio came on late. Scores were 116-112, 116-112 for Honorio and 115-113 for Sakkreerin.

Flyweight Ardin Diale (17-6-3, 4 KOs) surprised previously unbeaten Lolito Sonsona (15-1-1, 5 KOs) winning a clear ten round unanimous decision. Diale never let Sonsona in the fight winning 98-92 on all cards.

Unbeaten lightweight Al Sabaupan (18-0-1, 13 KOs) scored a TKO when Jonel Gadapan (7-3, 5 KOs) didn’t come out for round five. Sabaupan’s body shots made the difference.
