In a rematch between former world champions, jr lightweight Juan Manuel “Juanma” Lopez (34-3, 31 KOs) again defeated Daniel Ponce de Leon (45-6, 35 KOs) on Saturday night at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Both fighters were down in a wild round two. First Ponce de Leon dropped Juanma. Juanma then came off the floor to put down Ponce de Leon twice. Shortly after the bout resumed, referee Luis Pabon waved it off over the protests of Ponce de Leon who clearly still had some fight left in him. Time was 2:44.

It was a big win for Juanma, a more than a 2:1 betting underdog. A growing number of boxing pundits had considered him “shot” after KO losses to Omar Salido (twice) and Mikey Garcia. Juanma previously KO’d Ponce de Leon in one round six years ago.

Brooklyn middleweight Daniel “The Golden Child” Jacobs (27-1, 24 KOs) annihilated Milton “El Misil” Nunez (26-10-1, 24 KOs) in the first round. Jacobs scored three knockdowns before the bout was stopped. Time was 2:25.

Florida welterweight Ed “The Lion” Paredes (35-3-1, 23 KOs) scored a second round KO against George Sosa (13-7, 13 KOs).
