Solis defeats Ortiz

In a clash of former world champions, Ulises ‘Archie’ Solis (31-2-2, 21 KOs) won a lopsided ten round unanimous decision over Eric Ortiz (31-11-3, 20 KOs) in a flyweight bout on Saturday night at the Grand Sierra Resort & Casino in Reno, Nevada. Solis punctuated his victory with knockdowns in rounds nine and ten en route to a 98-89, 98-89, 99-88 score. Solis is rated #1 in the light flyweight division and is mandatory challenger. He previously had stopped Ortiz in nine back in 2006.

Welterweight Mark Melligen (19-2, 13 KOs) hammered out a ten round unanimous decision over Anges Adjaho (17-3, 9 KOs). Scores were 98-92, 97-93, 99-91.

Hometown favorite Joey Gilbert (21-2, 16 KOs) outworked Billy Bailey (10-9-1, 4 KOs) over eight rounds in a light heavyweight bout. Scores were 79-73, 79-73, 80-72.
