WBC cruiserweight champion Giacobbe Fragomeni (26-1-1, 10 KOs) retained his title with a twelve round split decision draw against former IBF champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk (41-2-1, 31 KOs) on Saturday night at the famous Gran Teatro in Rome, Italy. In a hard-fought battle, Fragomeni was the aggressor, and pressured the counter-punching Wlodarczyk over the first six rounds. Wlodarczyk changed his tactics stood his ground in the seventh round, as he started pressuring Fragomeni with good success, dropping a weary Fragomeni twice in round nine. After the second knockdown, Wlodarczyk hit Fragomeni when he was down prompting referee Ian John Lewis to give Fragomeni extra time to recover instead of a count. He did not deduct a point. Good two-way action in the tenth and eleventh. Both warriors let it all hand out in the twelfth. Scores were 114-113 Fragomeni, 116-112 Wlodarczyk, 114-114.
