Perez stops Terry in 6th
WBO #3 super featherweight Eloy “Prince” Perez (23-0-2, 67 KOs) scored a sixth round TKO over Ira Terry (24-7, 14 KOs) on Friday night at the Sherwood Inn in Salinas, California. Referee Dan Stell waved it off at 1:22. No knockdowns, but Perez was in command throughout.
Light heavyweight Paul Mendez (7-2, 2 KOs) scored a clear six round unanimous decision over journeyman Loren Myers (8-14-1, 2 KOs). All three judges had it 60-54 for Mendez.
In another notable bout, former WBA female champion Carina “La Reina” Moreno (22-4, 6 KOs) won a harder than expected six round unanimous decision over scrappy 38-year-old Sharon Gaines (11-13-1, 3 KOs) in a flyweight bout. Scores were 59-55, 58-56, 58-56. Moreno previously beat Gaines in February 2009.
Also, unbeaten heavyweight terror Magomed Abdusalamov (9-0, 9 KOs) took out Masatka Takehara (6-6-3, 2 KOs) in the first round, light heavyweight Rudy Puga (2-0, 2 KOs) destroyed Jose Hurtado (3-5, 3 KOs) in the first round and pro debuting jr welterweight Ulises Soriano won a four round majority decision over Jonathan Zamudio 0-1-1.
