Light heavyweight contender Jeff “Left Hook” Lacy (25-2, 17 KOs) won a close ten round majority decision over Otis Griffin (19-5-2, 7 KOs) on Friday night at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa, Florida. It was a competitive fight throughout with former IBF super middleweight champion Lacy winning by scores of 95-95, 96-94, 97-93. After the bout, Lacy called out Roy Jones Jr., who was in attendance.
Heavyweight Lenroy Thomas (11-2, 8 KOs) dropped Wes Taylor (7-13-1, 7 KOs) at the end of round one and finished him at 1:16 of round two.
Light heavyweight Roberto Failey (2-0-1, 1 KO) took an uneventful four round split decision over Adam Jaco (5-3-1, 1 KO) by scores of 38-37, 38-37, 37-38. Jaco was deducted a point in round four for hitting after the break, which ultimately cost him dearly.
Unbeaten jr lightweights Kermit Gonzalez (6-0-2, 3 KO’s) and Derrick Wilson (4-0-1, 1 KO) battled to a four round draw. Scores were 38-38 on all cards.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
