Former heavyweight title challenger Chris Arreola (30-2, 26 KOs) scored a first round TKO over Joey Abell (27-5, 26 KOs) on Friday night at the Pechanga Resort in Temecula, California. The bout was almost immediately waved off by referee Tony Crebs after Arrela staggered Abell with a big right hand. Time was 2:18. Arreola kissed Abell on the cheek as Crebs stepped in.

WBC #8, IBF #10 Josesito Lopez (29-3, 17 KOs) scored a seventh round KO over previously unbeaten jr welterweight Mike Dallas Jr (17-1-1, 7 KOs) in a clash for the NABF belt. Lopez overcame vertical cut from an unintentional headbutt and steadily roughed up and broke down Dallas, sending him to the deck as referee Raul Caiz Jr. waved it off. Time was 1:47.

Olympian super middleweight Shawn Estrada (11-0, 10 KOs) destroyed Jon Schmidt (10-2, 6 KOs) in a round one blowout. Estrada dropped Schmidt in the first ten seconds and floored him twice more before the carnage ended. Time was 1:48.

In a battle of unbeaten junior welterweights, Joseph Elegele (10-0, 8 KO’s) scored a one-punch knockout over Manuel Aguilar in the first round of a scheduled six round bout. A counter right hook by the southpaw Elegele to the head dropped Aguilar (5-1, 4 KO’s) to the canvas. Referee Tony Crebs counted Aguilar out at 2:18.

Junior Lightweight Kevin Hoskins (4-0, 3 KO’s) won a close four round split-decision victory over Ramon Flores. Hoskins landed the more effective punches, but would leave himself open to be hit by the wild-swinging Flores (3-10-2, 3 KO’s). Hoskins landed the more telling blows in the final round. One judge had Flores winning 39-37, but was overruled by the other two judges, who had Hoskins winning 39-37.

In a walkout bout, super flyweight Matthew Villanueva (5-0, 5 KOs) stopped Jose Luis Cardenas (5-11-1, 3 KOs) in two rounds. Villanueva floored Cardenas twice in opening round and finished him in the following stanza.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
