Powell, Miranda crush foes!

Former #1 rated junior middleweight contender Sechew Powell (25-2, 15 KOs) took apart Christian Lloyd Joseph (12-8-3, 5 KOs) in less than three rounds on Wednesday night at the Hard Rock LIVE Arena in Hollywood, Florida. Powell jumped on Joseph and punished him on the ropes for much of round one although Joseph blocked many shots. Powell hurt Joseph at the end of round two and after he rocked Joseph in round three the bout was stopped. Time was 2:30. Powell claimed the IBA 154lb belt with the win.

In a light heavyweight clash, fan favorite KO artist Edison Miranda (31-3, 27 KOs) again displayed his power. Pantera dropped Emmanuel Esparza (20-8-1, 5 KOs) in round two and ended it spectacularly with a left hook at of round three. Esparza was counted out by referee Jorge Ortiz at :52. An impressive performance for Miranda coming off his loss to middleweight champion Arthur Abraham in his previous fight.

Welterweight Antwone Smith (14-1-1, 8 KOs) scored an unpopular eight round unanimous decision over aggressive Benjamín Ankrah (9-9, 1 KO). Scores were 77-75, 77-75, 79-73.

Olympian welterweight Jonathan Gonzalez (1-0, 1 KO) was impressive in his pro debut, stopping Alejandro Arteola (0-1) in round three. Gonzalez looked extremely sharp in breaking down Arteola, who finally sank to the canvas in round three. Time was :48. Gonzalez is co-promoted by Seminole Warriors Boxing and Universal Promotions of Puerto Rico.

Debuting lightweight prospect Stalinn Lopez (1-0) outpointed Jean Petit Homme (2-16-4, 2 KOs) 40-36 across the board.

Unbeaten middleweight Jonathan Cepeda (3-0, 2 KOs) went the distance for the first time, taking a one-sided decision over Marvin Blair (2-3-1). Cepeda dropped Blair twice in round three, but the gutsy Blair made the final bell. Scores were 39-35, 40-34, 40-34.

Unbeaten Star Boxing light heavyweight Yathomas Riley (5-0, 3 KOs) spoiled the pro debut of Evjeny Stardubtsev. Riley dropped Stardubtsev in round two and punished him for the duration. Scores were 40-35 on all cards.

In a surprise, highly touted super middleweight prospect Timothy Taggart (3-2, 2 KOs) was shocked by Williams Deets (2-7, 1 KO) in a four-rounder. Scores were 39-37 on all cards for Deets, who connected landed the cleaner punches in the fight.

Bantamweight Jose Nieves (17-1-2, 8 KOs) pounded out a six round unanimous decision over game veteran Jose Garcia-Bernal (26-15-1, 17 KOs). Scores were 58-56, 60-54, 59-55.
