Undefeated WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (24-0, 21 KOs) scored a spectacular fifth round KO against Euro champ Grzegorz Proksa (28-2, 21 KOs) on Saturday night at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, NY. Golovkin dominated every minute of the fight, dropping Proksa in rounds one and four, then finishing him by flooring Proksa face first in the fifth. Time was 1:11.

Undefeated Jonathan Gonzalez (16-0-1, 13 KOs) and former WBO jr. middleweight champion Sergiy “Razor” Dzinziruk (37-1-1, 23 KOs) battled to a twelve round draw in what ended up being a super middleweight after Gonzalez weighed in nine pounds heavy. The larger Gonzalez landed the harder shots against the outgunned Dzinziruk, who made an extra $100K for taking the fight. Scores were 117-111 Gonzalez, 115-113 Dzinziruk and 114-114.

Light heavyweight Ryon McKenzie now of Canastota, NY scored a sixth round TKO over Borngood Washington of Queens. McKenzie was caught in the first round with his left hand too low for a flash knockdown. McKenzie readjusted and dominated the shorter foe for the next four rounds. In the final stanza McKenzie landed an overhand right that floored Washington who barely made it to his feet. Referee Charlie Fitch rightly decided he was done and called a halt at 2:36.

Undefeated Taureano Johnson (11-0) of the Bahamas opened a cut over the left eye of Cleven Ishe (3-9) of Los Angeles that forced the doctor at ringside to call a halt at 2:23 of round four of a scheduled six. Both fighters stood toe to toe in the first round each scoring with overhand rights. Johnson settled down in the second round and started to score to the body and with uppercuts that opened the cut that ended the bout.

Tony “Lightning” Luis struck fast and hard as he registered a first round knockout over Andres Ledesma of Miami. A right hand followed by a left hook to the body dropped Ledesma and he was counted out at 1:57 of a scheduled six. Luis of Cornwall, Ontario improves to 15-0 as Ledesma drops to 16-21-1.
