Uzbek’s top domestic prospect, jr welterweight Sherzodbek Alimjanov (13-0, 9 KOs) ended 2008 with his ninth victory of the year on Wednesday night at Zhar Sports Palace in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Alimjanov scored a confident twelve-round decision over Georgian George Ungiadze (13-7, 5 KOs) with the scores 120-110, 117-111 and 117-112 to capture the vacant WBC CISBB title. Also, another young gun jr middleweight Tursunbay Ablyakimov (10-1, 3 KOs) outpointed previously undefeated Aibek Jeenbekov (3-1) over six. Top Belarussian promoter Valery Kaplya staged a local card on Monday at Reactor Club in Minsk, Belarus, which had been first scheduled to have highly regarded European lightweight contender Yuri Romanov (21-2, 14 KOs) in a tune-up fight as its main event. “Unfortunately, Yuri caught a chill and I was forced to cancel his bout.
