This year, and for the very first time since 1948, the EBU General Assembly was held in Italy, in the pearl of Sardinia the beautiful city of Alghero. More than 80 delegates, promoters and managers from 38 different European countries were attending the meeting. As usual it was a great and a profitable get together. This year the local federation was not in charge of the organization, it was a personal idea of Salvatore Cherchi and we all could appreciate his sense of hospitality. For the year 2008 the awards for the best EBU championships promoters went to Sauerland Events and to Frank Maloney Promotions. The award for the best EU championships promoter to OPI 2000 Salvatore Cherchi , the award for the best EE-EU championships promoter to Yuri Ruban from Union Boxing Ukraine. The award for the fight of the year was for the fight between Rafal Jackievicz and Jan Zaveck. Rendall Monroe received the award for the best boxer 2008.
