WBA#8 ex-OPBF feather champ Hiroyuki Enoki (28-1-2, 20 KOs), 128, engaged in a comebacking bout after his unsuccessful attempt to win the WBA throne from Chris John last October, and displayed a clearcut KO victory over Indonesian national ruler Ardi Diego (8-2-1, 5 KOs), 128, with a single vicious body shot at 3:06 of the third round on Saturday in Tokyo, Japan. Enoki, a Larry Holmes stylist (though not so tall) utilizing his trademark stinging lefts, showed solid jabs to the good-looking and taller Indonesian, dominating the first two sessions with ease. The 29-year-old Japanese accelerated his attack in the third, when he landed strong jabs to have his opponent’s attention upstairs, and then dug a wicked shot to the belly. Diego, 22, sank in agnoy to be counted out there. Though Enoki couldn’t avenge his sole defeat by Chris John by finishing his compatriot Indonesian Diego, he showed a good form to be gunning for a shot at the winner of the forthcoming WBC feather title bout between Oscar Larios and Takahiro Aoh (with whom he previously fought to a unanimous draw with his OPBF belt at stake eleven months ago) next Thursday. Promoter: Kadoebi Promotions.
