In the lightweight main event Vincente Escobedo (22-2, 14 KOs) got back in the win column with an impressive third round knockout of journeyman Carlos Urias (43-24, 32 KOs) on Friday night at the Auditorio Plaza La Condesa in Mexico City, Mexico. The bout was competitively fought for the first two rounds but in round three Escobedo broke through with a pinpoint combination that put Urias down. Urias beat the count but moments later Escobedo put him down again with a series accurate solid shots to the head. The referee immediately waved off the bout without a count. The bout was the first for Escobedo since his decision loss to world champion Michael Katsidis September 2009.
Dante Jardon (12-1, 12 KOs) stopped David Rodela (14-3-2, 6 KOs) in round three of their WBC Youth super featherweight title bout. Jardon was a like a human punching machine as he threw punches non stop from the opening bell to the end of the fight. Though Jardon entered the bout winning all of his fights by knockout Rodela was a considerable step up for him. Jardon showed his power was for real as he hurt Rodela badly with a left hook in round two and moments later put him down with the same punch. Rodela beat the count but Jardon jumped right on him unleashing power shots to the head and body. Fortunately for Rodela the bell saved him but not for long. Jardon immediately pounced on Rodela at the start of round three unleashing more power punches punctuated by an uppercut that put Rodela down again where he was counted out by the referee.
