Espinosa’s Opponent Named!

By Kurt Wolfheimer

Undefeated lightweight prospect Antonio “Tony The Tiger” Espinosa (10-0) will face the toughest test of his professional career in the six round co feature on Saturday night at the Woodlands Inn and Resort in Wilkes-Barre, PA, when he faces Ron “Teflon” Boyd (6-6, 2KO’s) of Washington, DC. Espinosa knows he must defeat the former Maryland super featherweight title challenger, if he is to continue his run for a possible world title. Boyd recently defeated Dean White (14-10-1, 7KO’s) and is primed and ready to pull the upset on Saturday night. In the main event of the exciting professional boxing card promoted by Andre Kut of KEA Boxing Promotions, will be former Scranton, PA Police Officer, Jason Gavern (17-5-3, 8KO’s), who will be challenged by Willie Perryman (10-19, 7KO’s) in a six round heavyweight scrap.

5’5” super featherweight Anthony Cusumano (3-2-1, 2KO’s) of nearby Old Forge PA, will face 6’3” Nathan Francis (2-5, 1KO) in a four round affair.

Lightweight, Clinton “Pretty Boy Douglas (2-3-2) will look to rebound from an upset loss last month at the very same arena, when he swaps punches over four rounds with Jean Ramos (0-2).

April “Hollywood” Richards (0-1) will tangle with Natoya Ervin (0-3) in a special four round female middleweight attraction. Richards went toe-to-toe with Julie “The Irish Fury” Albanese in last month’s card that had the crowd on their feet throughout. Richards, who took that fight on the late notice minute, promises an even better effort on Saturday night as she looks to even her record at 1-1.

Two other exciting bouts are expected to be added.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
