Esquivel wins WBC eliminator

In a WBC bantamweight final eliminator, WBC silver belt-holder Cristian “El Italiano” Esquivel (21-2, 15 KOs) scored a second round annihilation of Eduardo “El Bambino” Garcia (21-6-1, 9 KOs) at the famed Arena Coliseo in Mexico City. The #2 rated Esquivel floored #8 Garcia in round two and got the stoppage with his follow up barrage.

In a WBC silver miniumweight title fight, Ganigan Lopez (16-4, 10 KOs) won a unanimous decision over Armando Torres ( 15-8, 10 KOs) with scores of 117-112, 118-111 and 117-112 and retains his title.

In a WBC miniumweight youth world title fight, Ibeth Zamora (11-2 4 KOs) won by KO at 57 seconds of round six to retain her title and continue to be the WBA miniumweight interim female champion.

In a WBC featherweight youth world title champion, Juan Antonio Rodriguez won by TKO in eight rounds over Nicaraguan Ariel Vasquez ( 16-2, 15 KOs) to retain his title.

Earlier, featherweight Salvador Sanchez II (20-4-3, 10 KOs) scored a fourth round KO over Eric Perez (0-9-2).
