Estrada ready to defend WBA/WBO belts

WBA/WBO flyweight champion Juan Francisco “Gallo” Estrada (25-2, 18 KOs) defends his belt Saturday against Filipino Richie “Magnum” Mepranum (27-3-1, 6 KOs) on Saturday at the Centro de Convenciones in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, Mexico.

Juan Francisco Estrada: “I am very excited to fight at home, to be presented be before my people as world champion. The Convention Center will be a big party this Saturday and I will give my best to make it a perfect party and the championship stays at home. We are going to give everything in the ring and demonstrate why we are the champion.”

Richie Mepranum: “I know that I’ve come to the home of champion, a great champion like Estrada, but I come to win. Sorry if I come to spoil the party, but my dream is to be world champion and I’m so close to fulfilling it. I will not miss this great opportunity.”

In the co-feature, former world champion Hernan “Tyson” Marquez (36-4, 26 KOs) faces John Mark “Iceman” Apolinario (17-3-3, 4 KOs).

Tyson Marquez: “I made a great preparation, we are going for everything and hope to entertain the fans of Puerto Peñasco. I’m focused on Apolinario, I have no other way but to win and then we’ll see what comes, maybe a fight against Estrada.”
