Ex-champ Alcine back in win column

Former WBA Light middleweight champion Joachim Alcine (34-7-1, 20 KOs) snapped a five fight losing streak TKOing journeyman Lawrence Hughes in three rounds on Friday night at the Chevrolet Event Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Alcine dominated the junior middleweight bout over the retreating Hughes from beginning to end. Alcine has relocated from Montreal, Canada to Southern California teaming up with trainer Phil Paolina and Journeyman Management. Alcine is looking to get right back in the ring next month in Phoenix, Arizona.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
