Ex-champion Brähmer ready for return

As of Monday’s press conference, former WBO light heavyweight Champion Jürgen Brähmer (36-2, 29 KOs) is still scheduled to fight on Saturday at the Grand Elysee Hotel in Hamburg, Germany. After 18 months out of the ring and three late title defense cancellations in a row that led to him being stripped of his world title, Brähmer says he’s now ready to rumble. “The preparation was better than expected, and I’ve kept fit the whole time. Of course, the first week of sparring was a bit bumpy. I initially wanted to work with a lot of power, but then the timing quickly got better.”

Despite all the anguish of the recent cancellations, promoter Universum has extended Brähmer’s contract. “I am really glad and proud that Jürgen boxes with us,” said CEO Waldemar Kluch.
