The Florida Boxing Hall of Fame has announced its new Board of Directors. President Walter “Butch” Flansburg, CFO Kathy Flansburg and Vice President Steve Canton are set as lifetime board members and Dr. Mel Jurado (Corporate Governance), Bob Alexander (Public Relations/Media), John Daddono (Fundraising/Sales) and Enrique “Rick” Encinosa (Historian) have each been elected to serve one year terms.
“We are very pleased with our selection of new board members, and are very excited as we move ahead in the coming years with the Florida Boxing Hall of Fame,” said President Walter “Butch” Flansburg.
The Induction weekend is set for June 20 – 22, 2014 at the Sheraton Tampa East in Tampa, Florida.
Living inductees for the Class of 2014 include former world champion Mike McCallum and top contenders Francisco Arreola and Jose Ribalta, trainer James “Buddy” McGirt, manager Fred Levin, promoters Walter Alvarez, Luis De Cubas and Felix “Tutico” Zabala, historian Don Cogswell, boxing writer Santos Perez, boxing official Paul Herman, participants Ed Levine, and Leo Thalassites. Those inducted posthumously include former world champion Kid Gavilan, contenders Tony Alongi, Carl “Red” Guggino and James Salerno, trainers Jose Caron-Gonzalez and Moe Fleischer and boxing official Alvin Goodman. Jimmy Resnick and Peter Trematerra will receive Boxing Achievement Awards.
