Tomorrow (Tuesday, February 26th) at 11am the WBO will hold a purse bid for the third fight between WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck and mandatory challenger Ola Afolabi in Miami. According to German boxing website boxen-heute.de Felix Sturm is likely to send a representative to Florida to bid on the title fight. Sturm Box-Promotion has a deal with German TV network Sat.1 but the former middleweight champion might struggle to secure big fights for himself after two consecutive losses. Marco Huck is a big name in Germany and his first two fights against Afolabi were very close so the third encounter between these two might make sense for Sturm. But of course, Huck’s promoter Sauerland Event will try to secure the rights on the bout because they need Huck as main event fighter for their own TV partner ARD. And Afolabi’s promoter K2 is certainly interested in the championship fight as well especially after the ongoing problems between K2 and Sauerland regarding the WBA heavyweight championship between Wladimir Klitschko and Alexander Povetkin. Whatever happens tomorrow in Miami a lot of people believe that the purse bid for Huck vs. Afolabi III might be as close and exciting as their two first fights.
