Fight Club OC presents another crowd-pleaser

A crowd of 1,382 fans at Thursday’s “Fight Club OC” in The Hangar at the OC Fair & Events Center in Costa Mesa, CA were treated to an action-packed night by promoter Roy Englebrecht. In the main event, junior middleweights John Hays (4-0-2) and Moises Alvizo (3-6-1, 2 KOs) fought to an entertaining six round draw, with the fans showing their appreciation by tossing money into ring!

Heavyweights Justin Davenport and Matt McKinney, both in their pro debuts, battled toe-to-toe for four rounds. In the end, the judges scored the contest a draw and the crowd again threw money into to the ring to show their gratitude.

Lightweight Dwain Victorian – promoted by Englebrecht – scored his first stoppage and improved his record to 3-0 with a third round TKO win over Juan Zuniga, a veteran of 16 fights.

Matchmakers Whit Haydon and Mel Valenzuela are lining up another extraordinary card for December 5th as “Fight Club OC” closes out the season. Heavyweight prospect Alexander “The Great” Flores (13-0) takes on his toughest opponent yet with veteran Arron Lyons (12-13-1, 9 KOs). The durable Lyons has gone the rounds with contenders such Luis Ortiz, Travis Kaufman and Kelvin Price. In a special feature attraction Lissette Medel encounters Melisenda Perez for the vacant IFBA jr lightweight title. Also in action, undefeated light heavyweight Curtis Millender (4-0) faces the tough Thor Shanke (4-4).

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
