Flood postpones fight card, Stieglitz and fellow SES boxers fill 100s of sand bags

Because of the flood damage in the Stadthalle Weißenfels and the tense flood situation in the eastern part of Germany, the proposed SES boxing event on June 14 has been postponed and will possibly be moved to another venue. Affected by this situation is the title defense of WBO world junior champion Dominic Boesel and the debut of the young “Team Germany.” Details will be announced in the coming days.

WBO super middleweight champion Robert Stieglitz and his training team of Dominic Boesel, Felix Lamm, Moritz Stahl, Dario Bredicean, Tom Schwartz, Tom Pahlmann, Robin Krasniqi, Falko Besser and Michael Wallisch, along with trainers Kai Kurzawa and René Friese are doing their part to help in the crisis by filling hundreds of sand bags to hold back the flood waters around Magdeburg.stieglitz_sand640

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
