The official public weigh-in takes place Thursday in the rear outdoor patio of Bacardi at the Park (Adjacent to U.S. Cellular Field). Doors open at 5PM, fighters will be on the scale at 6:30PM.
An “open workout” outside U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago Monday was rained out and was more of a photo opportunity and “meet and greet” for the fans.
Two-time and current WBC Cruiserweight Champion Krzysztof “Diablo” Wlodarczyk, a native of Warsaw, Poland, is making his way to Chicago this week in support of his countrymen, Andrzej Fonfara and Artur Szpilka.
The last professional outdoor boxing event held in Chicago took place over 50 years ago at Comiskey Park on September 25, 1962 and was headlined by the heavyweight world championship between Sonny Liston and Floyd Patterson.
The historic boxing event is headlined by a 12-round light heavyweight IBF World Title Eliminator between “Chicago’s Polish Prince” Andrzej Fonfara and former world champion Gabriel “EL Chico Guapo” Campillo. Also featured will be the “Can’t Miss” heavyweight rematch of Artur “The Pin” Szpilka of Wieliczka, Poland and Chicago’s “Merciless” Mike Mollo, scheduled for ten rounds.
