Fonfara shows power in sparring session

Report & Video: Przemek Garczarczyk

“You say you’re ready to be in the ring with me, you better know what you talking about,” said IBO light heavyweight champion Andrzej Fonfara (23-2, 13 KOs), who was sparring with three different fighters during almost three hours of grueling training at Sam Colonna Boxing Club and Fitness. “There’s always 100% effort from me. No exceptions. No days off. Steve knew what he could expect being first fighter I faced today. You just want to go through them as fast as possible.”

“I know what to do versus a fighter of Gabriel Campillo’s stature, a former world champion, never give him a chance to box, dominate him,” concluded ‘The Polish Prince.’

Fonfara-Campillo will be part of ESPN’s final show of the season from US Cellular Field, home of 2005 World Champions Chicago White Sox, also featuring a “can’t miss” heavyweight rematch between Artur ‘The Pin” Szpilka (15-0, 11 KOs) of Wieliczka, Poland and Chicago’s “Merciless” Mike Mollo (22-4, 13 KOs), scheduled for 10 rounds.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
