Frampton opponent named

Unbeaten super bantamweight Carl Frampton (16-0, 11 KOs) will defend his IBF Intercontinental title against Everth Briceno (35-8-2, 26 KOs) on July 20th in London’s Wembley Arena on the card headlined by the heavyweight clash between Dereck Chisora and unbeaten Malik Scott. The IBF #3 rated Frampton, 26, is heading into the fight in hot form with stoppage wins in his last two fights against Kiko Martinez to win the European title and Steve Molitor to defend his Commonwealth and IBF Intercontinental title. “Everth Briceno is a great fighter,” said Frampton. “The guy has fought for the world title on two separate occasions. He also boxed Leo Santa Cruz who is a future rival of mine, so I aim to do a better job on Briceno than Cruz did.”

    Help Support Fightnews.com®

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
