WBA #3 super flyweight Drian Francisco (18-0-1, 14 KOs) of the Philippines will clash with WBA #2 Ricardo Nunez (17-1, 15 KOs) of Panama over twelve rounds in a WBA elimination bout at the Ynares Sports arena in Metro Manila, Philippines on Saturday. Francisco scored the best win of his career in October 2009 when he scored a ten round technical knockout over former world champion Roberto Vasquez. Nunez has lost only one contest back in 2008 when William De Sousa stopped him in round one.
WBA/WBC super flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan said, “I have heard Drian Francisco is very good. My plan is to go after the world bantamweight title and also the super bantamweight title.” Darchinyan want revenge against Nonito Donaire also. “I am going to not only beat Nonito Donaire but destroy him when we fight. He has not signed the contract yet to fight me.”
Promoter Elmer Anuran said, “I believe Drian Francisco will win over Nunez and will become the next big name in boxing in the Philippines.”
The main supporting bout on Saturday will feature unbeaten Filipino lightweight Al Sabupan (10-0-1, 7 KOs) who will punch it out with Heri Andriyanto (14-11-2, 9 KOs) over twelve rounds.
