No thanks to Kelly Pavlik, but boxing fans do still have a fight to watch on Saturday night courtesy of WBCBoxing.tv, which will present a championship boxing webcast, free of charge. The webcast, which is not available in Mexico, will take place at 10:30PM ET, 7:30PM PT. In the main event, scheduled for 12 rounds from Gimnasio Municipal in Navojoa, Sonora, Mexico, super flyweight slugger Jose “Sugar” Salgado (25-1, 22 KOs) of Cozumel, Quintana Roo, Mexico, will challenge Carlos Ariel “Tortita” Farias (12-3-1, 1 KO) from Villa Tesei, Argentina, for the vacant WBC International title.
Salgado, who currently holds the North American Boxing Federation super flyweight title, is ranked #11 by the WBC. He has won seven fights in a row – the last six by knockout – since his only loss in October, 2009. His current winning streak includes winning the WBC Youth super bantamweight title as well as winning the NABF title and making one successful NABF title defense.
Farias is undefeated in four fights – 3-0-1 – since his last loss in May, 2010.
The fights will be televised live in Mexico at 9:30 P.M. (22:30 hrs Central Time) on Televisa-Channel 5.
