In the main event scheduled for 10 rounds, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, 30-0-1 with 22 knockouts, of Juanacatlán, Jalisco, Mexico, will defend the North American Boxing Federation welterweight title against Brian “The Golden Greek” Camechis, 19-2 with 8 knockouts, of Glouster, Ohio.
Only 19 years old, Alvarez is already a four-year pro and is considered by many to be one of boxing’s top young prospects. He won the vacant NABF title in January, 2009, and is making his fifth title defense. He also holds the WBC Youth welterweight title and is ranked No. 4 by the WBC at 147 pounds.
Camechis, 31 years old, is a hard working pressure-style fighter who is always in top condition and makes exciting fights. A five-year professional veteran, he has won two fights in a row.
