Everything is ready at the Conrad Casino and Resort in Punta del Este, Uruguay for Saturday’s clash between the last great figure of Brazilian boxing Arcelino “Popo” Freitas (38-2, 32 KOs) in his retirement fight against new Brazilian hero Michael Oliveira (17-0, 12 KOs). The 36-year-old Freitas, a former super featherweight and lightweight world champion with 15 world title fights, is returning as a middleweight after five years out of the ring. The fight is scheduled for ten rounds and Freitas has vowed to knock out the 14-years-younger Oliveira for trying to make a name for himself at Popo’s expense. Freitas is now a Brazilian congressman.
