WBA Latin American heavyweight champion “Fast” Fres Oqendo (35-7, 23 KOs) will defend his title as well as vie for the vacant NABA heavyweight belt against Derric Rossy (28-6, 14 KOs) during the 10 round main event at “Fight Night at the Horseshoe” on June 8, at 7:30 PM at the The Venue inside of Hammond, Indiana’s Horseshoe Casino. Dynamic super middleweight Mike “Hollywood” Jimenez (10-0, 7 KOs) and lightweight Frankie “Time Bomb” Scalise (6-1, 6 KO’s) are the co-features for the evening. Tickets start at $40.00 and are available at ticketmaster.com, all Ticketmaster outlets or The Venue box office.

“Fres is working hard to defend his WBA Latin American title and hopes to pick up the NABA belt,” said Hitz. “As he waits for his shot at the world title, a strong opponent like Derric Rossy will prove to be a worthy test.” Oquendo is from Chicago, while Rossy hails from Medford, NY.

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
