Friday the 13th boxing

By Jesse Kelley

Justin Seurer of the Midwest Sports Council, RDS Company and the Grand Casino Hinckley are proud to bring boxing back Hinckley Casino in Hinckley, Minnesota on Friday the 13th! In the main event, Matt “The Predator” Vanda (41-9, 22 KOs) is stepping into the ring against Phil “The Drill” Williams (11-1, 10 KOs) in a ten round super middleweight bout. Vanda – who has gone the distant in toe-to-toe with contenders Julio Cesar Chavez Jr (twice), John Duddy and Sebastien Demers – is ready drill “The Drill!” Williams is coming off of a huge win stopping former three-time world title challenger Antwun Echols in June. Vanda is one of the most popular fighters in the State of Minnesota but Williams is a fan favorite at the Hinckley Casino having 4 of his last 5 fights at venue.

In the co-main event, super featherweight prospect “The Pretty Warrior” Wilton Hilario (11-0-1, 9 KOs) takes on lightning fast Leon Bobo (18-3-1, 2 KOs) in an eight rounder.

Heavy handed Cerresso Fort (7-0, 7 KOs) battles “The Prince of Pain” Lamarr Harris (6-3-2, 4 KOs) in a six round middleweight grudge match. Harris beat Fort in the amateurs and has promised to “knock him out cold in the pros!”

In a special feature attraction is the long awaited pro debut of Javontae Starks who was a two-time Upper Midwest Gold Gloves Champion. Starks is making his debut at jr middleweight.

This event has been sold out for weeks but you can watch the action live on Fox Sports North.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
