Former WBO minimumweight champion and current WBO #1 rated jr flyweight Moises “Moi” Fuentes (17-1-1, 8 KOs) scored a one-sided ten round unanimous decision over Gerardo “Diablito” Verde (18-6-1, 14 KOs) in a jr flyweight clash on Saturday at the Foro Tecate installed in the parking lot of Casino Caliente in Tijuana. Scores were 99-91 on all cards.
In the co-feature, bantamweight upset artist Jonathan “Zurdo” Lecona (14-13-2, 5 KOs) did it again. Lecona scored an eighth round TKO over two-time world title challenger David “Morita” de la Mora (25-4-1, 18 KOs). Lecona dropped de la Mora in round one and twice more in round eight. Time was 2:27.
Super featherweight Sergio “Tabasco” Nunez (9-0, 6 KOs) extended his unbeaten streak by knocking out Isaac “Gladiator” Torres (13-4, 8 KOs) in the second round. Time was :56.
Featherweight Hanzel “Tornadito” Martinez (20-1, 16 KOs) won his coveted and elusive 20th career victory by knocking out Cesar de la Mora (6-5-1, 2 KOs) in the fourth round. “Tornadito” scored two knockdowns in round four to end it. Martinez, the nephew of Antonio Margarito, did get away unscathed, however, he suffered a bad cut over his right eye.
