In a bout billed as a WBC eliminator, #3 heavyweight Tyson Fury (20-0, 14 KOs) scored a one-sided twelve round unanimous decision over former world title challenger and current WBC #32 Kevin “Kingpin” Johnson (28-3-1, 13 KOs) on Saturday night at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The 6’9 Fury was busier throughout the fight, but never came close to stopping the defensive-minded Johnson, who also went the distance with Vitali Klitschko. Fury was deducted a point for hitting on the break in round seven. Scores were 119-110, 119-108, 119-108.
Fury will be next in line to fight for the WBC belt after another scheduled WBC eliminator between #1 Chris Arreola and #2 Bermane Stiverne. Should champion Vitali Klitschko retire, Fury would face the Arreloa-Stiverne winner for the vacant title.
In the co-feature, unbeaten super middleweight Chris Eubank Jr (8-0, 3 KOs) outboxed veteran Bradley Pryce (33-12, 18 KOs) over eight rounds. In his biggest test to date, the son of former two-division world champion Chris Eubank, was able to fend off the aggressions of Pryce in compiling a surprisingly wide 80-73 decision.
