Former WBA light heavyweight champion Gabriel ‘Chico Guapo’ Campillo (21-4-1, 8 KOs) of Spain, continues his training camp at Extreme Boxing School in Santa Paula, California, as he prepares to take on undefeated Sergey Kovalev (18-0-1, 16 KOs) on Friday September 21st in a 10-round bout on the next installment of NBC Sports Network ‘Fight Night’ series live from the Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania which is being presented by Main Events along with Sampson Boxing and Peltz Boxing.

Campillo, who’s trained by former junior welterweight champion Pablo Sarmiento and whose stable of fighters include middleweight king Sergio ‘Maravilla’ Martinez, fast-rising and highly talented prospect Javier ‘El Abejon’ Fortuna, cruiserweight prospect Mitch ‘King Kamm’ Williams and many others, looks to rebound after a devastating loss to current IBF light heavyweight champion Tavoris ‘Thunder’ Cloud (24-0, 19 KOs) via controversial split decision, in which most boxing observers believe Campillo deserved to get the win, this past February at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
