Cuban WBA featherweight world champion Yuriorkis “The Ciclon of Guantanamo” Gamboa is currently in Panama to attend Thursday night’s clash between Panamanian WBA interim flyweight world champion Luis “Nica” Concepcion and Mexican challenger and WBC former world champion Eric Ortiz at the Roberto Duran Arena. While in town, Gamboa visited the Pedro “Rockero” Alcazar Gym in Curundu and gave boxing equipment to that gym and to another one in Barraza. Panamanian boxing fans are hoping for a Gamboa clash with WBA super bantamweight world champion Celestino “Pelenchin” Caballero. Gamboa said he wasn’t impressed with Caballero’s last fight, but doesn’t rule out fighting him in the near future.
