WBO president Francisco “Paco” Valcarcel, announced today the referees and judges who will work this Saturday, January 25, in the world title defenses of champions Miguel Angel “Mikey” Garcia and Marco Huck, to be held in United States and Germany, respectively.
At the Madison Square Garden Theater in New York, USA, the WBO junior lightweight (130 pounds) champion Mikey Garcia (33-0, 28 KOs) will defend his crown for the first time against the #1 ranked Juan Carlos “Mini” Burgos (30-1-2, 20 KOs). For this fight the referee will be Harvey Dock, from United States. The judges for the Garcia-Burgos clash, a Top Rank presentation, will be Julie Lederman, Michael Pernick and John Poturaj, all three from United States. The WBO supervisor for this fight will be John Duggan.
At the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer Halle in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, the WBO cruiserweight (200 pounds) champion Marco Huck (36-2-1, 25 KOs) will make his 12th defense versus the #1 ranked Firat Arslan (33-6-2, 21 KOs) in a Sauerland Event presentation. For this fight the referee will be Mark Nelson, from United States. The judges for the bout between Huck and Arslan are Andre Van Grootenbruel, from Belgium, Donald Trella, from United States and Terry O’Connor, from United Kingdom. The WBO supervisor for this bout will be Istvan “Koko” Kovacs.
