Garcia stops Romero in 9

Unbeaten welterweight Danny Garcia (18-0, 12 KOs) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania stopped Jorge Romero (17-3, 15 KOs) of Mexico in round nine to win the interim WBC Youth world title on Friday night at the Moon Palace Resort in Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Garcia dominated the first four rounds of the fight with his superior boxing skills. Romero came on strong in rounds five-eight with steady pressure and connected with some solid shots leading to some serious swelling undernearth the right eye of Garcia. However, things changed quickly in round nine when Garcia landed a flush left hook that sent Romero crashing to the canvas. Romero arose on unsteady legs. Moments later Garcia rushed him and delivered a serious of unanswered punches and the referee waved off the bout.
