Geale-Barker Official Scorecard Review: Barker wins when judge turns blind eye to Geale’s big twelfth round

By Kurt Wolfheimer and Arvin Nundloll

A look at the official scorecards of Saturday night’s IBF middleweight title clash between Daniel Geale and Darren Barker shows that the bout was still up for grabs entering the twelfth round. While, judge Alan Rubenstein had Geale up by two points 105-103 and judge Barbara Perez had Barker ahead by six points 107-101 (awarding only two rounds to Geale through the first eleven rounds), judge Carlos Ortiz had the bout dead even at 104-104. Although the final round seemed a clear round for Geale as he hurt Barker and almost scored a knockdown, both Rubenstein and Ortiz saw Barker winning that round (!?), with Ortiz’ card deciding the bout!

Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.
