IBF/WBA middleweight champion Daniel Geale talked to Fightnews and has predicted that WBC champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr can upset Sergio Martinez when they clash in Las Vegas on September 15.
“Chavez can definitely defeat Martinez,” said Geale. “He is the bigger, younger and stronger middleweight and if Martinez allows himself to get trapped in corners or on the ropes he will pay the price. Chavez has improved in his recent fights, especially against Rubio. Darren Barker gave Martinez problems in their fight.”
“I would be confident in defeating both Martinez and Chavez,” concluded Geale, who also mentioned that he’ll be ringside with his promoter Gary Shaw to watch the Chavez-Martinez fight.
