Former middleweight champion Daniel Geale earlier today in a Fightnews.com interview called out WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin and IBF middleweight champion Felix Sturm. “I’d love to fight Sturm for the IBF title but would also like to fight Gennady Golovkin for the WBA title. Curtis Stevens gave Golovkin problems. He done it easy against Mathew Macklin, but again my style would be a problem for him,” said Gaele.
We decided to contact the WBA/IBO champion’s promoter Tom Loeffler for a response. It was a quicker than GGG left hook and also painful. “Gaele can fight GGG anytime for the WBA belt he gave up,” said Loeffler. “We actually made an offer to his promoter for the fight on February 1 in Monaco, but it was turned down. Right now Genady is focused for his fight against Osumanu Adama but if everything goes well, he can certainly get the next shot if Gaele is really ready to step up to the plate!”
