Giovani Segura KOs Tyson Marquez in round twelve after brutal war

In an important WBO flyweight eliminator between former world champions, Giovani “Guerrero Azteca” Segura (31-3-1, 27 KOs) scored a spectacular twelfth round KO over hometown favorite Hernan “Tyson” Marquez (36-4, 23 KOs) on Saturday night at the Centro de Usos Multiples in Hermosillo, Hermosillo, Mexico. As expected, it was a brutal encounter. Segura dropped Marquez in round four and methodically stalked “Tyson.” Marquez had his moments also, but Segura would not be denied, dropping Marquez again in round eleven and finally putting Marquez down for the count with a straight left after a wild exchange in the final stanza. Marquez was given oxygen and taken out on a stretcher. Segura is now mandatory challenger for WBA/WBO champion Juan Francisco “El Gallo” Estrada. Time was 1:57.

Unbeaten WBC #14 super featherweight Miguel Berchelt (20-0, 17 KOs) scored a spectacular fifth round KO against Omar Estrella (15-6, 13 KOs).
