Golden Boy, Khan team up

Golden Boy Promotions has entered a a strategic alliance with Khan Promotions to promote WBA super lightweight world champion Amir Khan (22-1, 16 KOs) with the goal of expanding his presence globally, particularly in the United States. “Amir is already a star in the United Kingdom and now, we are going to help him shine in the United States and across the world,” said Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions. An opponent, date and location for Khan’s next fight will be announced shortly. Ricky Hatton has been mentioned as a possible future Khan opponent. Khan is now training with Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood.
Khan was previously promoted by Frank Warren. “You just hope that people don’t suffer from amnesia, that’s all I can say,” Warren told PA Sport last week. “I have delivered all I said I was going to do. When he turned pro I said I’d look after him and I’d make sure he wins a world title and I’ve done that.”

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
