It will be a WBA middleweight world title doubleheader on February 1 at the Salle des Etoiles in Monte Carlo. Not only will current WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin defend his title against Osumanu Adama, but fans can also see Martin Murray (26-1-1, 11 KOs) fight Jarrod Fletcher (17-1, 10 KOs) for the middleweight title of the SAME organization on the SAME card. This turn of events will come about because Golovkin, who also holds the IBO belt, will be elevataed by the WBA to middleweight “super” champion, thus opening up the “regular” portion of the middleweight WBA belt for the Murray-Fletcher winner.
