Former Olympic prospect Brandon Gonzales, 165 1/2, Sacramento, improved to 7-0 with his sixth knockout victory, stopping Nebraskan Jason Dietrich 173, 15 seconds into the third round on Friday night at the Red Lion Hotel in Sacramento, California. Dietrich (9-19) retired kneeling, the only knockdown of the scheduled eight-rounder, after taking a power punch to the nose, resulting in a nasal fracture.

In the semi-main, former IBF cruiserweight champ Kelvin Davis (24-10-2) of Reno, Nev., suffered a third-round knockdown in losing a unanimous six-round decision to Montana’s Leo Bercier (6-8-1). The judges’ scores were 58-55, 57-56 and 59-54.
