Mexican WBC featherweight world champion, Jhonny Gonzalez, closed his training camp Saturday at the Romanza Gym in Mexico City, in preparation for the fourth defense of his world title. The bout will be next Saturday at the Grand Oasis Hotel in Cancun against the Dominican world champion in recess Elio Rojas.
Gonzalez wrapped up his sparring session with 4 different sparring partners. He also performed the pre-weighin required by the WBC and made 130 pounds.
Gonzalez traveled to Cancun on Monday with his trainer Ignacio Beristain.
“I’m ready to fight Elio Rojas, I respect him and it will be a great fight. I only have a few days where I have to keep this weight and speed. By winning on Saturday I want to then go on to face the best of the world,” Gonzalez said.
