Gonzalez closes training in Las Vegas

By Gabriel F. Cordero

WBC current world featherweight champion Jhonny Gonzalez finished his strong stage of their training on Tuesday morning on the track of UNLV with his trainer Nacho Beristain. “We’re ready to face former world champion Ponce DeLeon and hope it’ll be a great fight. That night is very important to me because I want to fight with the best and Ponce is one of them. Now let’s just keep the weight and meet the promotional agenda of the event,” siad Gonzalez. He did about 140 rounds of sparring at the Romanza Gym and on alternate weekends at the Nevado de Toluca, the highest site in Mexico.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
