In a rematch, Robert Stieglitz (44-3, 27 KOs) regained the WBO super middleweight title by dethroning champion Arthur Abraham (36-4, 28 KOs) via TKO after round three on Saturday night at the GETEC Arena in Magdeburg, Germany. The first round was all Stieglitz as Abraham pretty much just covered up. Things heated up in round two. Stieglitz often led with his head, while Abraham responded with shots to the back of the head. Abraham’s left eye was closing after round two. Good round for Stieglitz again in round three, plus Abraham was deducted a point by referee Michael Ortega for punching behind the head. The fight was stopped after round three due to the condition of Abraham’s eye. Officially a TKO4.

WBO #1 heavyweight contender Robert Helenius (19-0, 11 KOs) won a workmanlike ten round unanimous decision over Michael Sprott (37-20, 17 KOs). Very much a sparing session as “The Nordic Nightmare” won by scores of 98-93, 97-93, 98-92.

Middleweight Lukas Konecny (49-4, 23 KOs) won a twelve round technical decision ove Karim Achour (14-4-2, 3 KOs) in a bout for the vacant WBO European middleweight title. The bout went to the cards after Konecny suffered bad cuts due to headbutts. Scores were 118-110, 116-112, 118-110.

WBO/WIBF female flyweight champion Melissa McMorrow (9-3-3, 1 KO) won a ten round split decision over Nadia Raoui (15-2-1, 3 KOs) to retain her titles. Scores were 99-91, 96-94 McMorrow, 96-94 Raoui.

Super middleweight contender George Groves (18-0, 14 KOs) scored a second round TKO over Baker Barakat (37-14-4, 25 KOs). Right hands by Groves did the trick. It was Groves’ second fight in two weeks.

Heavyweight Edmund Gerber (23-1, 14 KOs) survived a late rally from Gbenga Oloukun (18-9, 11 KOs) to win a close eight round unanimous decision by scores of 77-76, 77-76, 77-75. Oloukun complained bitterly about the result.

Other results:
Mortiz Stahl KO1 Joszef Orsos (light heavyweight)
Enrico Koelling W6 Josef Obeslo (light heavyweight)
