Tomas Villa Update

By Lee Bates

UPDATE: Matchmaker John Beninati has informed that Tomas Villa was signed as an opponent fight a Gary Shaw Productions fighter, but has not inked to a GSP promotional agreement.
A source has confirmed that featherweight Tomas “El Norteno” Villa (20-6-4, 13 KOs) has signed with Gary Shaw Productions. Villa’s last bout in November 2008 was a thriller where he was stopped for the first time in his career in the 10th and final round by Rogers Mtagwa. Villa previously was with legendary promoter Don Chargin with whom he was riding a 12 bout unbeaten streak prior to the Mtagwa loss.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
