Golden Boy Promotions, Telefutura, Tecate and the Tropicana announced today the return of the “Solo Boxeo Tecate” series, April 30 at the Tropicana in Las Vegas. Headlining the return will be former world champ Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (25-1-1, 17 KOs), who will make his return at lightweight in a ten-rounder against Roberto Arrieta (34-15-4, 15 KOs). “It’s been a long, bumpy road  but I’m back,” Guerrero said today. It will be Guerrero’s first bout since his world championship win over Malcolm Klassen in August of 2009.  In early 2010, Guerrero vacated his IBF Junior Lightweight World title in order to care for his wife Casey, who is battling Leukemia. With Casey taking positive steps on the road to recovery, Guerrero will now begin his road back to the top of the boxing mountain. The Guerrero-Arrieta card will take place the night before the Floyd Mayweather-Shane Mosley showdown.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
