One source has indicated that the WBA Panamanian cruiserweight world champion Guillermo Jones is requesting special permission from the WBA to fight journeyman Joell Godfrey (14-7-1, 6 KOs) in a ten round heavyweight bout on June 23. However Jones is due to make a mandatory defense against Dennis Lebedev. The WBA will consider Jones’ request and respond within 10 days.
